On the bridge, giant eyes are staring at you

October 3, 2009

Ile Saint-Louis has often inspired artists of all kinds.
If you are in Paris, don’t miss JR’s giant exhibition entitled Women are Heroes
JR had quite a crew of volunteers helping to paste huge pieces of photos, like a giant puzzle.
I got some of them still working this afternoon, when the grand opening was tonight.
A few more photos of the exhibition here

That’s gorgeous! I’d love to have that on our bridges over the river.

I was fascinated by the eyes, but more so by the buildings along the Seine River. I assume they are apartment buildings and I remember seeing many like that as I walked up the Champs D’Elysee. Are these upscale apartments or middle class?

Definitely upscale! You don’t buy a flat like that, your parents leave it to you!

“If you are in Paris…” how I wish! Haven’t been to Europe for a few years now. Your blog is my visual connection to there, especially Pairs.

Eric, of Paris Daily Photo, used the same picture. It looks like ET on his site.

Claude, thanks so much for this treasure of images. Your photos of the exhibit going up was delightful. Then the video, the music. If that lovely woman in Nairobi, the maker of potato chips to sell in the market, can be hopeful, that’s a message for women in more privileged places–like moi!
